Pedestrian crossingArgentina
1. Pedestrian crossing
A pedestrian crossing is a designated place where pedestrians may cross a road. It is commonly indicated by road markings, traffic signs, signals or a combination of these measures.
Drivers must approach with appropriate caution and give way when required by local law. Pedestrians must also observe approaching traffic and follow any pedestrian signals or instructions from authorised traffic controllers.
When must drivers give way at a pedestrian crossing in Argentina?
Under Argentina’s national Law 24,449, give way to pedestrians lawfully crossing on a pedestrian crossing or in a marked danger zone, and stop if continuing would endanger them. Follow the applicable signals at controlled crossings. The national law applies in federal jurisdiction; check the adopted provincial or municipal rules elsewhere.

Are all pedestrian crossings controlled the same way in Argentina?
A warning that pedestrians may cross ahead is different from a marked or signal-controlled crossing. Look for the actual crossing marking, pedestrian signals and any supplemental signs.

May I enter a pedestrian crossing if the road beyond it is blocked in Argentina?
Under national Law 24,449, do not enter a junction if you cannot clear it without obstructing pedestrians or other traffic. Keep the pedestrian crossing clear and wait for space beyond it. Do not pass a stopped vehicle without a clear, safe view of pedestrians; the national law requires safe overtaking and respect for lawful pedestrian priority. Check applicable local rules.
