Garbage truckGermany
1. Garbage truck
A garbage truck is a specialised vehicle used to collect and transport household waste, recyclable materials or other refuse. Many garbage trucks are equipped with lifting equipment and a compaction system that allows waste containers to be emptied and their contents compressed inside the vehicle.
Garbage trucks frequently stop and start while collection workers operate around the vehicle. Other road users should approach carefully, reduce speed when necessary and watch for workers, containers and vehicles entering or leaving the roadway.
Do garbage trucks always have special traffic priority?
No. Waste-collection vehicles normally remain subject to ordinary traffic rules unless specific national or local rules provide an exemption for their work.
