Bike pathIndonesia
1. Bike path
A bike path is a part of a road or a separate route intended primarily or exclusively for people riding bicycles. It may be physically separated from motor traffic, marked on the road surface or identified by traffic signs.
Bike paths may be one-way, two-way or shared with other road users. The permitted users, direction of travel, priority rules and obligation to use the path depend on local traffic signs and regulations.
Are Indonesian cycling facilities always physically separated from traffic?
No. The Regulation recognises Lajur Sepeda and Jalur Sepeda arrangements, including shared roads, shoulders, dedicated lanes and separate routes. Look at signs and markings: a cycling route can have different layouts along its length.

Which controls must cyclists follow on an Indonesian cycle route?
Obey the bicycle-specific instructions and restrictions shown by traffic signals, signs and cycle-lane markings. Ride in an orderly manner, maintain a safe distance from other users and give priority to pedestrians. A dedicated cycling facility does not remove these duties.

Can an Indonesian cycling facility be shared with pedestrians?
Yes. The Regulation expressly allows facilities shared with pedestrians and requires attention to pedestrian safety and comfort. Identify whether the route is shared or separately allocated. Do not assume every cycling symbol reserves the whole surface exclusively for bicycles.
