Bike pathRomania
1. Bike path
A bike path is a part of a road or a separate route intended primarily or exclusively for people riding bicycles. It may be physically separated from motor traffic, marked on the road surface or identified by traffic signs.
Bike paths may be one-way, two-way or shared with other road users. The permitted users, direction of travel, priority rules and obligation to use the path depend on local traffic signs and regulations.
What does Romania call a cycle path?
The official term is pistă pentru biciclete. It is a specially arranged, signed and marked subdivision of the carriageway, pavement or shoulder. Its location on a pavement does not make the rest of that pavement a cycling facility.

Must cyclists use a provided Romanian cycle path?
Yes, where a signed cycle path exists in your direction of travel, Romanian Regulation Article 160 requires bicycles and electric scooters to use it. Follow its direction and traffic controls. An ordinary unsigned pavement is not a substitute cycling facility, and a path serving the opposite direction is not automatically your required route.

Does a Romanian cycle path automatically permit mopeds?
No. The provision requiring path use expressly names bicycles and electric scooters. Do not infer permission for powered mopeds or motorcycles from a bicycle sign. They remain subject to their own vehicle-access rules.
