Los números de emergencia son números telefónicos cortos utilizados para contactar rápidamente con policía, bomberos, ambulancias u otros servicios de emergencia. El número correcto depende del país y del tipo de emergencia. Antes de viajar al extranjero conviene conocer el principal número de emergencia y utilizarlo solo cuando se necesite ayuda urgente. Al llamar, hay que mantener la calma y explicar claramente la ubicación, qué ha ocurrido, cuántas personas están implicadas y si alguien está herido o en peligro inmediato.

Should you hang up immediately after giving the location?
No. Stay on the line until the emergency operator tells you to hang up, because additional information or instructions may be needed.
Should you use an emergency number for non-urgent problems?
No. Emergency numbers should be kept available for situations requiring urgent assistance. Use the appropriate non-emergency service for problems that can safely wait.
