1. Bike path
A bike path is a part of a road or a separate route intended primarily or exclusively for people riding bicycles. It may be physically separated from motor traffic, marked on the road surface or identified by traffic signs.
Bike paths may be one-way, two-way or shared with other road users. The permitted users, direction of travel, priority rules and obligation to use the path depend on local traffic signs and regulations.
What does Serbia call a cycle path?
The official term is biciklistička staza (бициклистичка стаза). The statutory definition reserves it for bicycles and light electric vehicles. A biciklistička traka is a lane within the carriageway, with different access provisions.
Which side should cyclists use on a Serbian two-way cycle path?
Use the right side in your direction of travel. Where two or more cyclists travel together, ride one behind another. A two-way path does not permit occupying the side intended for approaching users.
Is there a national speed limit for cycling on Serbian cycle paths?
Yes. Bicycle riders may not exceed 35 km/h on a cycle path. Conditions may require a much lower speed. This specific cycle-path ceiling should not be confused with the default speed limit for motor traffic on the adjoining road.
