1. Footpath
A footpath is a path or part of a road intended primarily for pedestrian traffic. It may run alongside a road, through a park or residential area, or independently from roads used by motor vehicles.
A footpath may be reserved exclusively for pedestrians or may form part of a shared route with cyclists or other permitted users. Access, priority and permitted users depend on the traffic signs and local regulations applying to the path.
What does Ukraine call a pedestrian path and a roadside pavement?
The rules distinguish a пішохідна доріжка, pedestrian path, from a тротуар, roadside pavement. Pedestrians must use pavements and pedestrian paths, keeping to the right. A route intended for cycling must be identified separately.

Can children cycle on Ukrainian pavements?
The rules prohibit cycling on pavements and pedestrian paths, with an exception for children under seven on children’s bicycles under adult supervision. This does not permit the supervising adult to cycle there or turn the pavement into a shared cycling route.

Where should I walk if a Ukrainian road has no usable pavement or footpath?
Use the verge where possible, keeping right. If the walking facilities and verge are absent or unusable, follow the carriageway rules and walk in single file where required. Outside built-up areas, ordinary pedestrians using the verge or carriageway normally face approaching traffic.
