Terms of service

With the terms of service we want to give you an insight into how our website works. We also want to make it clear to you that we are not responsible for the information on this website. However, we do everything we can to offer the highest possible quality!

Terms of Service

Effective date:
Version: 1.0

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of traffic-rules.com and rijbewijs-online.be. References to the “Website” mean either of these websites.

The Websites are operated by Wouter Cools under the trading name Traffic Rules. Please read these Terms carefully before using the Website or purchasing a subscription.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing, creating an account on or using the Website, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the Website.

Before purchasing a paid subscription, you must actively confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and understand the applicable price, subscription period and automatic-renewal conditions.

Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund Policy provide additional information about your use of the Website.

2. About the Website

The Website provides educational information about traffic rules, road signs, road safety and driving-exam preparation. Available features may include illustrated lessons, quizzes, reference material and other educational resources.

Some content is available free of charge. Unless otherwise stated before purchase, paid subscriptions provide full access to the Website and remove advertising placed directly by us during the applicable subscription period.

Third-party content or embedded services, such as YouTube videos, may display their own branding, notices or advertising. These elements are controlled by the relevant third party and may not be removable through a Website subscription.

3. Age requirements

The free educational content on the Website is available to users of all ages.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account independently. A user under 13 may create or use an account only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Users who have not reached the age at which they may legally enter into a paid contract in their country must obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian before purchasing a subscription. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for the purchase and use of that subscription.

4. Accounts

An account is required to purchase and use a paid subscription. You must provide accurate information and keep your account information reasonably current.

You are responsible for protecting your login details and for activity carried out through your account. Please contact us promptly if you believe that your account has been accessed without permission.

Personal and non-commercial account sharing is permitted. However, you may not sell, rent or commercially redistribute access to an account, publish login details publicly or use account sharing to operate a competing service.

5. Subscription plans and prices

The Website may offer several subscription plans with different prices, durations and levels of project support. The currently available plans and their exact prices are displayed on the subscription and checkout pages.

Before completing a purchase, you will be shown the selected plan, total price, subscription duration, included access and whether the plan renews automatically.

All displayed prices are stated in euros and include applicable VAT and all mandatory charges. No additional mandatory charge will be added to the price displayed at checkout.

Unless otherwise stated on the subscription page, paid plans provide full access to the Website without advertising for the applicable subscription period.

Short-term plans are one-time purchases and do not renew automatically unless explicitly stated otherwise. Plans identified as monthly subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.

Some higher-priced plans may provide the same Website access as another plan while allowing the subscriber to provide additional financial support to the Traffic Rules project. This will be clearly indicated before purchase.

6. Automatic renewal

One-time and short-term plans do not renew automatically unless this is explicitly stated before purchase.

Plans identified as monthly subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. By purchasing an automatically renewing plan, you authorise Paymentwall to charge the applicable subscription price using your selected payment method at the beginning of each new billing period.

The applicable billing period, price and renewal conditions will be displayed before purchase and may also appear in the payment confirmation sent by Paymentwall.

You are responsible for cancelling before the next billing date when you do not want the subscription to renew.

7. Payments

Payments are processed through Paymentwall. Paymentwall may collect and process payment and billing information under its own terms, privacy policy and payment procedures.

We do not directly control every payment method, currency-conversion charge, banking delay or payment-verification procedure used by Paymentwall, your bank or another payment provider.

A subscription becomes active after we receive confirmation of successful payment.

8. Activation

Subscription access normally begins within a few minutes after successful payment confirmation. In exceptional cases, payment verification, technical processing, service interruptions or other circumstances may cause a delay.

By purchasing a subscription, you request that access begin immediately after successful payment confirmation. Immediate activation does not reduce the 14-day money-back guarantee described in these Terms.

Please contact support if your payment was successful but your subscription has not been activated within a reasonable period.

9. Cancellation

One-time and short-term plans end automatically after their stated access period and do not need to be cancelled.

You may cancel a recurring subscription through the Paymentwall checkout page or by using the subscription-management link included in the automatic payment confirmation email sent by Paymentwall.

Cancellation prevents the next automatic renewal. After cancellation, no further automatic renewal payments will be charged, and your access will continue until the end of the current paid billing period.

You should cancel before the next billing date. If you cannot cancel through Paymentwall, contact us at hostmaster@traffic-rules.com.

10. Failed payments

If an automatic renewal payment is unsuccessful, access may be suspended or restricted until payment has been completed successfully.

Paymentwall or the relevant payment provider may retry or otherwise process the payment according to its own procedures.

If the payment remains unsuccessful, the subscription may expire or be cancelled. You will not be charged for a new subscription period unless the relevant payment is completed successfully.

11. Fourteen-day money-back guarantee

All subscription plans, including short-term plans, include a 14-day full money-back guarantee.

You may request a full refund within 14 calendar days after the original purchase by contacting hostmaster@traffic-rules.com. You do not need to provide a reason, although feedback may help us improve the Website.

To help us locate the payment, include the email address associated with your account and, where available, the plan name, purchase date and payment reference.

Approved refunds will be returned through the original payment method. We aim to review and process refund requests within 14 days. Your bank, card issuer or payment provider may require additional time before the amount appears in your account.

When a full refund is issued, access connected with the refunded purchase will end.

This guarantee does not limit any mandatory withdrawal, refund, conformity or consumer rights available under applicable law.

12. Renewals, duplicate payments and technical failures

If you believe that a subscription renewed accidentally, that you were charged more than once or that a technical failure prevented you from using a paid service, contact hostmaster@traffic-rules.com.

We will review the circumstances, payment records and use of the service. Where appropriate, we may provide a refund, replacement access, extension of access or another suitable remedy.

Nothing in this section limits remedies required by applicable consumer law.

13. Account closure

You may request closure of your account by contacting hostmaster@traffic-rules.com.

Closing your Website account does not necessarily cancel recurring billing through Paymentwall. You should cancel a recurring subscription through Paymentwall before requesting account closure.

Closing an account does not automatically create a right to a refund, except under our money-back guarantee, Refund Policy or applicable law.

Personal data associated with a closed account will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy and according to applicable legal retention requirements.

14. Acceptable use

You may use the Website only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • use the Website for fraud, attacks, harassment or other unlawful activity;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, servers, systems or restricted areas;
  • introduce malware, malicious code or harmful technical material;
  • interfere with the security, availability or normal operation of the Website;
  • send excessive automated requests or operate scraping tools in a way that disrupts or burdens the service;
  • circumvent access controls, payment controls or security measures;
  • sell, rent or commercially redistribute account access;
  • publish account login details publicly;
  • copy or commercially exploit Website content except where expressly permitted.

15. Suspension and termination

We may temporarily or permanently suspend an account where we reasonably believe that these Terms have been seriously or repeatedly violated or where action is necessary to protect users, the Website or third parties.

Where reasonably possible, we may contact the account holder and provide an opportunity to explain or correct the issue. Immediate action may be taken where necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal compliance.

If an account is temporarily suspended because of suspected misuse, the current paid subscription period will continue to run during the investigation.

If an account is permanently suspended for a serious or repeated violation, access may be terminated and automatic renewal will be cancelled. Payments already made will not normally be refunded where suspension resulted from a serious breach of these Terms, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

16. Intellectual property

The Website contains original material created for the Traffic Rules project as well as material obtained from third-party sources, including Wikimedia Commons, Creative Commons licensors and embedded YouTube videos.

Unless otherwise stated on the relevant page, our original text, quiz questions, illustrations, design, software and other original material may not be copied, republished, distributed, sold or commercially reused without prior written permission.

Sharing links to publicly available pages is permitted.

Printing, classroom use, reproduction of quiz questions and commercial or non-commercial reuse may be permitted in certain circumstances. Any permission, licence, conditions or restrictions stated on the relevant page must be followed. When no permission is stated, contact us before reusing the material.

Some images and materials originate from external sources. Where a source or licence is identified, you should obtain the material from the original source and comply with that source’s licence, attribution requirements and other conditions. Displaying third-party material on the Website does not grant additional rights beyond those provided by its owner or applicable licence.

Embedded YouTube videos remain subject to YouTube’s terms and the rights of their creators. Embedding a video does not grant permission to download, reproduce or redistribute it.

Requests for educational, commercial or other reuse may be sent to hostmaster@traffic-rules.com.

17. Educational purpose and disclaimer

The Website is intended for educational purposes and driving-exam preparation.

Traffic laws, road signs and examination requirements may change and may differ between countries, regions and examination authorities. Although we aim to provide accurate and useful information, we cannot guarantee that every item is complete, current or applicable to every situation.

Official legislation, government authorities, road authorities and authorised examination organisations take priority over information provided on the Website.

The Website does not provide legal advice or replace professional driving instruction. Use of the Website does not guarantee that you will pass a driving examination.

You remain responsible for checking the rules that apply in your location, complying with current traffic laws and behaving safely and responsibly on the road.

18. Website changes and availability

We may correct errors, update outdated information and change or remove quiz questions, images, pages and other content.

We may add, modify or discontinue Website features and subscription plans. Changes to plans or prices will apply to future purchases and renewals unless otherwise clearly communicated.

Material changes affecting an automatically renewing subscription will, where reasonably practicable, be communicated before the affected renewal.

Access may occasionally be interrupted because of maintenance, security measures, technical problems, payment-service interruptions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will make reasonable efforts to restore access as soon as practicable.

If a paid feature or subscription plan is discontinued, existing subscribers will normally retain the access already paid for until the end of the current subscription period. If this is not reasonably possible, we will provide an appropriate remedy, such as replacement access, a proportionate refund or another remedy required by applicable law.

We do not guarantee that every feature, page or item of free content will remain available permanently.

19. Digital-service conformity

Paid digital services will be supplied in accordance with the description presented at the time of purchase, subject to reasonable updates and changes described in these Terms.

If a paid digital service does not function as agreed, contact us so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, restore access, correct the problem, extend access, reduce the price, terminate the affected service or provide another suitable remedy.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits mandatory legal rights relating to digital content or digital services.

20. Third-party services and links

The Website may use or link to third-party services, including Paymentwall, Google AdSense, Google Funding Choices, YouTube, Wikimedia Commons and external websites.

Third-party services operate under their own terms, privacy policies and technical systems. We do not control all third-party content, availability, payment methods, advertising or data-processing practices.

A link or embedded item does not necessarily mean that we endorse every statement, service or product provided by the third party.

21. Privacy and cookies

Our handling of personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Information about cookies, advertising technologies and consent choices is available in our Cookie Policy.

Paymentwall and other third-party providers may separately process information under their own privacy policies.

22. Disclaimer of warranties

We aim to provide a useful, secure and reliable Website. However, free content and general information are provided without a guarantee that they will always be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every individual purpose.

No provision of these Terms excludes a warranty, guarantee or legal remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded from a consumer contract.

23. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by reliance on outdated, incomplete or incorrectly applied traffic information where official sources should have been consulted.

We are not responsible for unsafe or unlawful decisions made by users on the road, examination results, actions taken by public authorities or the independent operation of third-party services.

We will not be responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights.

24. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Website, subscription plans, service providers, business operations or legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated effective date and version number.

Changes will not retroactively alter a completed purchase or remove rights already acquired under an existing paid period. Material changes affecting recurring subscriptions will, where reasonably practicable, be communicated before the next affected renewal.

Continued use after updated Terms take effect means that the updated Terms apply to subsequent use and future purchases, subject to applicable law.

25. Complaints and dispute resolution

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at hostmaster@traffic-rules.com so that we can attempt to resolve the matter informally.

These Terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections available under the laws of the country in which you normally reside.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right a consumer may have to bring proceedings before a court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.

Subscriptions may be purchased worldwide, subject to availability, local law and the payment methods supported by Paymentwall.

26. Languages

These Terms may be made available in several languages. The English version is maintained as the reference version if there is a difference in wording or interpretation between translations.

This reference-language provision does not limit mandatory consumer rights or legal protections applicable to you.

27. General provisions

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

A delay or failure to enforce a provision does not permanently waive the right to enforce it later.

You may not transfer a paid subscription for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. Personal and non-commercial account sharing remains permitted as described in these Terms.
