1. Zone
A traffic zone is an area in which a traffic rule applies throughout all included roads or road sections. The rule normally begins at a zone-entry sign and remains applicable until the corresponding end-of-zone sign is passed.
Zones may regulate speed, parking, access, vehicle categories, emissions or other traffic behaviour. The signs used, the roads covered and the effect of intersections or local exceptions depend on local traffic law.
How do people refer to traffic zones in Serbia?
Serbian law calls the 30 km/h category zona 30. A zona škole is a school zone, while a zone requiring traffic to move at walking speed is a different category.
Where does a zone rule apply in Serbia?
A zone 30 is a signed part of a road, street or settlement where the maximum is 30 km/h. Apply that maximum throughout the designated area, rather than importing the rules of a different kind of zone.
Does a Serbian school zone always have exactly the same rule as a zone 30?
No. A school zone has a maximum of 30 km/h inside a settlement or 50 km/h outside one, normally from 07:00 to 21:00 unless signs specify another period. A permanent zone 30 has its own boundary and 30 km/h rule.
How do you know when a traffic zone ends in Serbia?
Look for the boundary signing for the particular zone. On leaving, continue observing other applicable limits; the end of a zone 30 does not automatically cancel a nearby school-zone restriction.
