Driving license Belgium

A driving license is a document that allows drivers to prove that they have sufficient knowledge, insight and skill to drive a vehicle of a certain category.


Driving license A - Motorcycle


Theory exam

  • The age for the theory-exam driving license A1, A2 or A:
    • Driving license A1: 17 years and 9 months.
    • Driving license A2: 19 years and 9 months.
    • Driving license A: 23 years and 9 months.
  • The theory exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions that you must solve on a computer in an examination center.
  • To succeed you must reach at least 41 at 50, you lose 1 point per error.
  • The exam can be taken with an interpreter in Dutch, French, German or English.
  • The theory exam costs 15 euros, also take your identity card and possibly bring your glasses.
  • The theory exam is 3 years valid if you have not achieved your driving license within this period you must again take the theory exam.
  • If you were unsuccessful for the theory exam you can retry as often as you want, but not on the same day.

Practical exam

  • The age for the practical driving license A1, A2 or A:
    • Driving license A1: 18 years.
    • Driving license A2: 20 years.
    • Driving license A: 24 years.
  • The practical exam for driving license A1, A2 or A consists of 2 parts: maneuvers in private field and a driving test on public roads.
