Driving license B - Car

• With the driving license B you can drive these vehicles:
• Four-wheelers with engine: cars, vans, some quads and mobile homes, each with or without a trailer.
• Vehicles of driving license AM: speed pedelecs, mopeds and scooters.
• The maximum permitted mass of the vehicle is 3500 kg.
• The vehicle is suitable for a maximum of 8 passengers, driver not included.

Theory exam

• For the theory exam driving license B you must be at least 17 years old.
• The theory exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions that you must solve on a computer in an examination center.
• To succeed you must get at least 41 at 50, you lose 1 point per light error.
• You lose 5 points per heavy error (violations of the 3rd, 4th degree or over the maximum speed).
• If you were unsuccessful after the second attempt, you must follow 12 hours of theory lessons in an authorized driving school.

Provisional license

• With a provisional driving license B you cannot drive:
• Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 22 and 6 hours.
• The eve of a holiday and on holiday itself between 22 and 6 hours.
• Abroad.
• With a trailer.
• For commercial freight transport.
• Drivers with a provisional driving license must hang an L plate in their car.

Practical exam

• For the practical exam driving license B you must be at least 18 years old.
• If you were unsuccessful after the second attempt, you must follow 6 hours of practical lessons at an authorized driving school.
• If you take the practical exam with automatic gears, your driving license is only valid for vehicles with an automatic gearbox.

Return moment

• The return moment consists of an introductory meeting, practical exercises and group conversation.
• If you live in Flanders, you must follow an extra training of 4 hours 6 to 9 months after you have achieved your final driving license.
