Bir ek işaret, ana işaretin nasıl anlaşılması gerektiğini açıklamak veya ek bilgi sağlamak için doğrudan başka bir işaretin altına yerleştirilen trafik işaretidir. Mesafe, zaman aralıkları, etkilenen yol kullanıcıları, yönler veya özel durumlar gibi koşulları belirtebilir. Ek işaretler tek başına yeni kurallar oluşturmaz; sürücülerin belirli durumda kuralı doğru uygulayabilmesi için üzerlerindeki işaretin anlamını değiştirir, sınırlar veya açıklar.
