2. Motorway
A motorway is a road specially designed and signposted for motor traffic. Motorways normally have separate carriageways for opposing traffic, controlled access through designated entrances and exits, no direct access to neighbouring properties, and no level crossings with other roads, railways or paths.
Special traffic rules apply on motorways. The permitted road users, speed limits, lane rules, tolls and emergency procedures vary between countries, so drivers must follow the local traffic signs and regulations.

How do people refer to an expressway in Malaysia?
The Malay term is lebuh raya, also written lebuhraya in operator names and road information. In English, these roads are usually called expressways.

What speed limit applies to cars on an expressway in Malaysia?
The general expressway maximum is 110 km/h. Individual sections can have a lower signed limit, such as 90 or 80 km/h. Follow the signs on your route and reduce speed for traffic and conditions.

Should I stay beside my vehicle after a breakdown on a Malaysian expressway?
On PLUS expressways, the operator advises waiting behind the roadside barrier after moving the vehicle off the traffic lanes, where it is safe to do so. If you cannot reach a safe place, contact the operator for instructions instead of standing exposed to traffic.
