A prohibitory sign is a traffic sign that tells drivers what is not allowed on that specific road or in that situation. These signs impose restrictions such as no entry, no overtaking, no parking, speed limits, or bans on certain types of vehicles. Their purpose is to clearly indicate actions that are forbidden to ensure safety, maintain traffic flow, and protect vulnerable road users.

What does a no-turn sign prohibit in Slovenia?
It prohibits the left, right or other turn shown at the junction or position controlled by the sign in Slovenia. Follow any supplementary panel or authorised direction and choose another legal route.

Can a no-turn restriction apply only to certain vehicles or hours in Slovenia?
Yes, where the local sign system provides a supplementary condition or exemption, such as a vehicle class, time or authorised access. Without a valid exception, comply with the prohibited movement shown.

1. No entry
This traffic sign means no entry. Drivers may not enter from the direction in which the sign is placed.

8. Trucks prohibited
This traffic sign indicates that trucks are prohibited. Trucks covered by the sign may not enter or continue beyond it. Any applicable weight threshold or vehicle-category limitation is determined by the sign, supplementary information and local rules.

18. Flammable or explosive goods prohibited

19. Vehicles carrying water-polluting substances prohibited
This traffic sign indicates that vehicles carrying water-polluting substances are prohibited. Vehicles carrying the substances covered by the sign may not enter or continue beyond it.

20. Vehicles wider than indicated prohibited
This traffic sign indicates that vehicles wider than indicated are prohibited. A vehicle or vehicle combination whose overall width, including its load, exceeds the displayed limit may not continue beyond the sign.

46. Start of no-parking zone
This traffic sign indicates the start of a no-parking zone. The parking prohibition applies throughout the zone according to the applicable zonal rules until the zone is ended or another rule replaces it.
English • Traffic sign 2419 • No-parking zone. A point in a built-up area where a no-parking zone or an area permitting short-stay parking begins. If short-stay parking is permitted, supplementary sign 4308 explains the arrangements, including the maximum parking duration, permitted times and payment information. If short-stay parking applies only during certain hours and parking is otherwise unrestricted in duration, sign 2436, 2437 or 2438 is also installed on the same post.
Slovenščina • Prometni znak 2419 • Območje prepovedanega parkiranja. Mesto v naselju, kjer se začenja območje, prepovedano za parkiranje, oziroma območje z dopustnim kratkotrajnim parkiranjem. V primeru dopustnega kratkotrajnega parkiranja je prometnemu znaku dodan dopolnilni znak 4308 z obvestilom o načinu prometne ureditve (dopusten maksimalen čas parkiranja, časovni termini dopustnega parkiranja, informacije o plačilu parkirnine). Če je kratkotrajno parkiranje dopustno samo v določenem časovnem terminu, v preostalem času pa je parkiranje časovno neomejeno, je na istem nosilnem drogu nameščen tudi prometni znak 2436, 2437 ali 2438.
