非常電話は、道路利用者を緊急、交通管制、ロードサービスのセンターへ直接つなぐ専用電話です。トンネル、高速道路など、事故、故障、火災を素早く通報することが重要な場所に設置されます。通報者の位置情報をオペレーターへ伝えやすく、携帯電話の電波が弱い場所でも利用できる場合があります。
