15. Roundabout

A roundabout is a circular road arrangement in which traffic travels around a central island in one designated direction. Vehicles enter and leave through connecting roads, and traffic signs or local rules determine who has priority.

Drivers should reduce speed, choose a suitable lane, observe all road users and signal as required when leaving. The direction of travel, entry priority, lane use and rules for cyclists and pedestrians depend on local traffic signs and regulations.

Who has priority at a roundabout in Slovenia?

At a Slovenian krožno križišče, the Road Traffic Rules Act gives priority to vehicles already circulating over vehicles entering. Follow the marked lanes and any additional traffic controls.

How should you choose a roundabout lane in Slovenia?

On a multilane roundabout, Slovenian law normally requires using an inner lane, with exceptions including the first exit and the traffic or vehicle conditions specified in the Act. With a two-lane entry, the right entry lane joins the outer lane and the left joins the inner lane. Follow the actual markings.

What should you check when leaving a roundabout in Slovenia?

Move to the outer lane before leaving unless the signs expressly permit the exit from an inner lane. If traffic prevents the required move, continue around until you can position safely rather than force a path across the outer lane.
