94. Segway

A Segway is a self-balancing electric personal transporter that allows a standing rider to move by shifting their body position while the vehicle's electronic balancing system maintains stability. The classic Segway Personal Transporter has two wheels and is controlled using a handlebar or steering mechanism.

Segways are used for personal transport, tourism, security and other short-distance travel. Their legal status and where they may be ridden depend on national traffic rules governing personal mobility devices.

A Segway is a self-balancing electric personal transporter designed to carry a standing rider.

How does a Segway stay balanced?

A Segway uses an electronic self-balancing system that continuously responds to the rider's movements and helps keep the vehicle upright.

Where can you ride a Segway?

This depends on local traffic laws. Segways may be classified as personal mobility devices, bicycles or another vehicle category, which determines whether they may use cycle paths, roads or other areas.
