7. Bike path
A bike path is a part of a road or a separate route intended primarily or exclusively for people riding bicycles. It may be physically separated from motor traffic, marked on the road surface or identified by traffic signs.
Bike paths may be one-way, two-way or shared with other road users. The permitted users, direction of travel, priority rules and obligation to use the path depend on local traffic signs and regulations.

Where should cyclists over fourteen normally ride in Russia?
The Rules direct them to cycle paths, shared walking and cycling paths, the carriageway of a cycling zone or cycle lanes. A cycle path is a велосипедная дорожка; a cycle lane is a полоса для велосипедистов. Separate rules apply to younger children.

When may an older cyclist leave a Russian cycle path for the carriageway edge?
Permitted cases include an absent or unusable cycling facility, a bicycle, trailer or load wider than one metre, or riding in a column. Ride at the right edge under the applicable rules. These are defined exceptions, rather than a general preference to ignore the path.

Does the absence of a Russian cycle path automatically allow pavement cycling?
No. For riders over fourteen, the Rules provide an ordered set of alternatives, including the carriageway edge and shoulder. Pavement use has specific conditions, including certain child-accompaniment cases. The absence of one facility alone does not remove those conditions.
