4. Zone
A traffic zone is an area in which a traffic rule applies throughout all included roads or road sections. The rule normally begins at a zone-entry sign and remains applicable until the corresponding end-of-zone sign is passed.
Zones may regulate speed, parking, access, vehicle categories, emissions or other traffic behaviour. The signs used, the roads covered and the effect of intersections or local exceptions depend on local traffic law.

A speed-limit zone is a зона с ограничением максимальной скорости. Russia also distinguishes parking-prohibition zones and regulated-parking zones. The entrance symbol identifies the rule to remember.

Where does a zone rule apply in Russia?
The speed-zone sign marks the beginning of the territory or road section where the displayed maximum applies. It has a corresponding zone-end sign; do not confuse it with an ordinary road-specific speed restriction.

How do you know when a traffic zone ends in Russia?
Look for the end sign matching the speed or parking zone you entered. Zones can cover different boundaries, so leaving one does not by itself cancel a separate access or parking restriction.
