164. Temporary sign
A temporary sign is a traffic sign installed for a limited period to regulate, warn or guide road users because of temporary conditions. Temporary signs are commonly used for roadworks, accidents, events, diversions, lane closures or other situations where the normal traffic arrangement has changed.
Drivers must follow temporary signs and the traffic arrangement currently in force. Signs that are no longer relevant should normally be removed, covered or otherwise made ineffective so that road users are not given conflicting instructions.
