Un éthylotest antidémarrage, également appelé dispositif anti-alcool ou alcolock, est un appareil de mesure de l’haleine relié au système de démarrage du véhicule. Avant de pouvoir démarrer, le conducteur doit fournir un échantillon d’air expiré inférieur à une limite programmée. L’appareil peut aussi demander des tests supplémentaires en cours de trajet et enregistrer des informations sur les contrôles, échecs et tentatives de manipulation. Il est utilisé dans certains pays comme mesure de sécurité ou obligation légale pour des conducteurs condamnés pour des infractions liées à l’alcool.
What is an alcohol interlock in Belgium?
An alcohol interlock is a breath-testing device connected to the vehicle. A driver subject to an alcohol-interlock programme can only start the vehicle after providing a breath sample below the required alcohol limit.
What alcohol limit does a Belgian alcohol interlock use?
The vehicle can only be started after a breath test showing less than 0.09 mg/l of alcohol in exhaled breath, corresponding to less than approximately 0.2‰ alcohol in the blood.
When can a Belgian court impose an alcohol interlock?
A court can impose an alcohol interlock for certain alcohol offences, including drivers caught with more than 0.8‰ alcohol, drivers in a state of intoxication and repeat offenders.
When is an alcohol interlock mandatory for a Belgian court?

Who pays for the alcohol interlock in Belgium?
The convicted driver normally pays the costs of the alcohol-interlock system and programme. A judge may reduce the fine wholly or partly to take those costs into account.
